JOINT HEALTH BENEFITS

Having optimal functioning joints can make the difference in any type of performance. In contrast, any sort of joint dysfunction will make the day less fun and could make getting around frustrating.

Joint pains can be some of the worst. Joint functionality is paramount to human movement and performance. They are also the most vulnerable to injury. Strengthening joints both nutritionally and through exercise is very important.

In a large 12 million dollar study known as GAIT, it was shown that glucosamine/chondroitin caused joint relief largely against placebo [1].

The modern diet was found inadequate to support bone and joint health in the public where joint health is a need and priority. [2] This, of course, indicates that joint health and other dietary supplements would be necessary to maintain healthy joints.

Prebiotic supplements are said to increase the uptake of many joint nutrients such as calcium. [x]

 

JOINT HEALTH SIDE EFFECTS

Certain substances such as inorganic calcium can build up in unhealthy ways.

A study 2016 study stopped early because certain participants experienced more pain with the glucosamine – chondroitin formula [3]

Heartburn, drowsiness, and allergic reactions are the most common side effects of joint health supplements. [4]

Joint pain relief is not always achieved through the familiar traditional formula. [5]

With any new substance or supplement, go slow to asses tolerance or allergy.

 

JOINT HEALTH EXPERIENCE

In my humble experience, I regularly have, based on feel, needed to take a joint supplement. I would say I train extremely hard, and I do a lot of individual joint focus mostly using cables or bands and some free weight. [6]

I go for a straight calcium supplement mostly, and the sea cucumber stuff. For me, I feel like collagen supplements also function well for joint recovery.

Joint health is a big focus, a friend here in the mountains has been experimenting with pig ears as a way of consuming a lot of cartilage. Bone broth has been a favorite bone and joint health dietary practice, and this is something I do regularly.

 

 

JOINT HEALTH DISCUSSION

It was important to me to find stuff that addressed the overall lack of joint supportive nutrition in a modern diet so that the recommendation would apply to both arthritis and training. Arthritis is expected because of the lack of food to support joints is not.

Meat eaters eat steak, and a liver sure. Where is the cartilage? The bone foods and drinks? Back when we appreciated nature we would use the entire animal. We allowed it to be free, we allowed ourselves to be free. In that freedom and appreciation, we used all of the animal’s parts an evolved.

Now our over-selective *(curiously and extremely not good) and stupid diet culture consumes to be weak; people do not eat to peak.
