Best Glutamine Rankings, Benefits, Side Effects & Experience
The best combat sports practices and nutritional supplements are valuable effective pieces to the final puzzle picture of winning the fight. Whether it’s the fight to gain muscle, lose fat, or put the body through combat glutamine supplementation can be an intelligent employ to the nutritional design arsenal of elements. In this sudo-Part II (See Part I) of our Ultimate Fighter Diet research and theory; we take a comprehensive look at one of the best combat sports nutrition supplements; the best glutamine.
Glutamine is the most abundant free amino acid in the human body and is a major substrate utilized by intestinal cells. Modern diet oftentimes does not replenish this important nutrient that is quickly burned through in high-intensity exercise.
In addition to this supplemental attention, we take a look at the Nutritional Diversity Diet & Athletic Performance Study in Panama, and alternative foods, broader spectrums of nutrition, and alternative more natural food production models and how they work towards a relatively unexplored leg-up in every physiological and psychological case and category.
As primarily tropical nutrition researchers we can’t help but notice right now the upcoming Tyson versus Jones event and the UFC’s fight island are about the coolest current event’s the world has going for it right now – besides our incredible ecology. It has surely re-sparked the writing which I thought I may have a little longer a break from. I am glad they pushed the fightback from 12 September to 23 November because Panama will open domestic interprovincial travel along with international travel on September 14, 2020, and public food businesses 14 October. You can bet I will be watching this fight from my favorite city in Latin America. Because of my long list of fatal attraction stalking ex-factors, I cannot share with you what city that is.
Combat sports athletes are a justified study for the ultimate athletic performance diet. as these humans sustain the most natural damage, and should we speed injury recovery through diet, that is valuable. If we can gain athletic performance enhancements through highly diverse all-natural diets that logically are more sufficient and optimal than other diets, that is also valuable.
First and foremost on the list of requirements for MMA fighter nutrition versus normal office worker guy nutrition is the best hydrational supplements. and then it’s arguably having the best joint health supplements or the best green juice supplements, and thirdly in my humble roll group’s opinion is the best glutamine supplements.
The mat and MMA gyms are the “beast category” of animals in the arena of physical training. The mentality and pre-workout use of the people in these gyms oftentimes is not fond of the right amount of rest, and recovery. The training itself is more damaging than other gym training whatever the play clock for the day ends up being. The best glutamine supplements will help protect against tissue and muscle cannibalism and help muscle recovery. This is a major lack in modern diet firstly and secondly should be higher-dosed for the higher-level athletic demands involved in the best combat sports.
I was lucky to learn of glutamine back in 1998 while wrestling at Greg Jackson’s in Albuquerque, New Mexico (-born and raised) back when it was small and crowded and at it’s truest behind Denny’s Restaurant (GaidoJitsu) on I-25. Guys back then were saying all you really need is protein and glutamine and if you hyperextend something then glucosamine. That was the full spread on the supplements back then, in what has grown to debatably be the World’s Best MMA Gym and I think they are legitimately home to the most champions competing in the UFC. It has been great to watch my old comrades go on to become butt-kicking stars I would have been among them but I instead stepped up real hard to fatherhood and left my home town to secure great health coverage and serve in the United States Navy. I pray Michelle Waterson from my team wins tonight against a scarry looking opponent Angela Hill.
Aside from the combat sports examinations which my team and extended family teams are routinely engaged, long-distance running was used for a well-structured best glutamine testing segment. Weekly runs of set distances on set macronutrient summations that are performed on a regular basis received new glutamine supplement inclusions to realize any noticeable immediate benefits and side effects.
I was also lucky that guys back then around there were against steroids and drugs and alcohol. We had a cultural discipline there in Albuquerque I am both proud and very appreciative of today. I have never even taken a natural testosterone booster or anything and now look at all the horror stories involving those substances. Glutamine is as safe as it gets as far as sports performance products go.
After a few years of debate, research, and trials with different sports supplements on the market our team put glutamine to the test, and here are some of the benefits that we found:
- A high dose was required for optimal results, we found that to be between 10 and 20 grams.
- Once the higher dose is achieved muscle immediately begins to stack at a rate of roughly 5-20% more than before.
- Light joint injuries were reduced by 10-30%.
- Endurance was enhanced by 20-40% for some testers.
- Overall performance was noticeably enhanced in all trial cases.
- Bowel function commonly became more regular.
- Fast-twitch muscle performance was noticeably enhanced for many members of the test group.
- Cognitive functions were noticeably enhanced
Our own studies often realize more accurate general result descriptions than modern mainstream science study does because of the straightforwardness of our team members, team captains, and close-knit non-polluted study methods. In order to produce the best nutritional and athletic performance information, it is important to do independent in-house research and testing operations to validate information many times just regurgitated on research mediums without actual experience behind it. We performed our own independent research on glutamine supplementation benefits and comprehensive considerations.
Glutamine, being the most abundant and versatile amino acid in the body and in health and disease studies, and the rate of glutamine consumption by immune cells is similar to or greater than glucose, should be more of a health focus and mentioned in general health knowledge that it is today.
Many did not know what it was until the last decade when the Muscle Pharm supplement company pushed their supplements into the local grocers. NDdieting, normally recommends staying clear of the local grocer but, in this case for such an intelligent and important selection go for it or simply order below.
In vitro and in vivo studies have both determined that glutamine is an essential nutrient for 3 key operations to athletic performance and lymphocyte proliferation – a key to immunity adaptabilities (lymphocyte proliferation is defined as the process whereby lymphocytes begin to synthesize DNA after cross-linking of their antigen receptor either following recognition of antigen or stimulation by a polyclonal activator (mitogen) [a] ) and cytokine production (proteins related to inflammation and pain released by cells [b] ), macrophage phagocytic (defensive white blood cells that scavenge for pathogens and dead cells and handle their removal [c]) plus secretory activities, and neutrophil (historically known as first responder defense cells against pathogens [d] ) kill-off of harmful bacteria. The nutrient’s release to the body’s circulation and availability is mainly controlled by key metabolic organs, like the stomach, liver, and skeletal muscles.
During catabolic or hypercatabolic situations glutamine can become essential for metabolic function, but its availability may be compromised due to the impairment of homeostasis in the inter-tissue metabolism of amino acids, hence one importance and segway to benefits in the element’s supplementation. Glutamine is currently part of clinical nutrition supplementation protocols and/or recommended for immune-suppressed individuals and could be an important agent employed in fighting a virus. [1]
Furthermore, fighters in our own test camp reported the above-listed benefits as well as intense increases to other benefits in other studied nutrients and nutrient combinations, likely credited to the metabolic enhancements the best glutamine sources provide.
It can be difficult to know which of the vast variety of supplements available are effective and helpful to the beginning athlete, and this is one reason why the best athletes come to us for the best health and performance information.
As long as I only deal with straight, honest, and stand-up people in my circle, I don’t care what lies people tell about me outside of my circle.
Some high glutamine containing foods from the narrow modern diet spread of goods are meat, seafood, seeds (which we stay away from because of lectins), eggs, and cabbage.
Let’s go ahead and take a look at some of the best glutamine supplements on the market now, and then explained is a vast combination of experience in the use and results of the nutritional element.

BENEFITS
A long history of study and realization of intensive benefits, glutamine has shown positive benefits for metabolic activity, cancer treatment, and tumor reduction. [x]

Glutamine supplements have been used regularly to improve clinical results in patients suffering from different digestive or intestinal issues regularly reporting beneficial results. [x] No one element including glutamine should be expected to cure anything, especially known substrate material – which could be a key enabler to more curative materials.
Alzheimer’s prevention and neurodegenerative activity preventative behaviors are noticed with higher levels of other concentrated nutritional elements. [x]
SIDE EFFECTS
With any new supplement go very slow to assess tolerance and possible allergic reactions. Most glutamine supplements are very safe.
The most common side effect of glutamine supplementation is diarrhea.
EXPERIENCE
Long-distance runs testing noted a significant difference in experiences while using the best glutamine supplement:
- ability to run more often
- significantly less muscle loss and physiological breakdown
MMA training examinations realized these same benefits and
- increased joint flexibility and overall joint health
- faster reactions times and bettered ability to read opponents quickly / more sensitive to movement
The nutritional substance in most experiences also promotes regularity.
Theory:
In our nutritionally diverse athletic testing, we have been able to ramp energy levels through both work-up and through nutritional elementation into states whereas the user must be in physical movement or in access to some sort of large/deep respiratory activity.
Metabolism and digestion can be so optimal that breathwork can become necessary in order to keep the engine cool. The glutamine element *could certainly be a huge part of optimal digestive success and increased energy states.
DISCUSSION
Initially, the hypothesis for this study was an argument over 1). the best combat sports supplements 2). the benefits and likely necessity for fighters and runners to use glutamine supplements or high glutamine food inclusion strategies to experience optimal performance, 3). the overall importance of supplements that quiet the damage of intense training, other supplements, and promote healthy key aspects of human mechanics such as regularity.
The initial quality of best glutamine product ranking selections was aged by long term dedicated to research into sources of the substance. Then just over a dozen products were collectively tested during the training season with no previous (short-term) inclusions of the isolate. Intensive journaling of diet, training logs, and performance output measurements were the primary indications of efficacy.
The supplements at the high ten-gram doses did produce increased performance and benefit across all testers and we are starting to test 15-20 gram daily doses and combinations with other nutritional elements namely serrapeptase and cordyceps. Metabolic performances are always put to the test in our tropical green juices and the alkalizing agent is a big part of our routine.
Thomas DeLauer is a long time health coach on YouTube and in this video he has his own recommendations, and we really like how well he explains the importance and benefits of glutamine supplementation.
FAQ
[forminator_form id=”8513″]Q. Is Glutamine essential to those working out hard in the gym?
A. Our answer is Yes. The source is important and many times a high-meat nose-to-tail diet answers the call, however the supplements we have listed above can help right away. We put people on protein and glutamine supplements first thing.

Ragweed (Ambrosia): The Infamous Allergen with a Surprising History
Few plants are as disliked — or as misunderstood — as ragweed. To most people it’s simply the reason late summer means itchy eyes and endless sneezing. But ragweed is also a native North American plant with a genuinely surprising past: it was one of the continent’s ancient cultivated seed crops, and its very name is tangled up with wormwood in a way worth untangling.
What ragweed is (and the wormwood mix-up)
Ragweed is the genus Ambrosia — most commonly Ambrosia artemisiifolia (common ragweed) and Ambrosia trifida (giant ragweed) — in the daisy family. Here’s the confusion we see constantly: common ragweed’s folk names actually include “American wormwood” and “bitterweed,” which is why people so often conflate it with true wormwood. They are not the same plant. True wormwood is Artemisia absinthium; ragweed is Ambrosia. Different genus, different chemistry, different story — even if an old common name blurred the line.
The allergy reality
There’s no sugar-coating ragweed’s headline trait: it is one of the most significant pollen allergens in North America. A single plant can release enormous quantities of lightweight pollen that travels for miles on the wind, and its late-summer-into-fall season is the classic cause of seasonal allergic rhinitis — hay fever. People allergic to ragweed may also react to related plants and, through cross-reactivity, to certain foods like melon and banana in some cases.
The forgotten history: an ancient seed crop
Here’s the part almost no one knows. Long before it was a villain, giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida) was part of the “Eastern Agricultural Complex” — a group of plants that Indigenous peoples of eastern North America cultivated thousands of years ago. Archaeological evidence shows ragweed seeds among early cultivated foods, valued as an oily, protein-bearing seed before maize came to dominate. It’s a striking reminder that our labels — “weed,” “crop,” “medicine,” “menace” — say as much about us as about the plant.
One plant, four names, and a history that runs from ancient granary to modern nuisance — ragweed is a lesson in how much context decides a plant’s reputation.
From the field — what we’ve seen
Fifteen years of working the land teaches you to read plants the way the old growers did — not as heroes or villains, but as parts of a system. Ragweed is a pioneer: it rushes into bare, disturbed, abused soil, and where you see a lot of it, the ground is often telling you something about how it’s been treated. That ecological literacy — knowing what a plant’s presence means — is field knowledge that rarely makes it into a nutrition table. We document ragweed here for exactly that reason: to know a plant honestly, allergen and ancient food alike, is part of a truly diverse understanding of the living world.

Bromelain Nutritional Information
Bromelain: Pineapple’s Powerful Enzyme
Bromelain is a group of enzymes found in the stem and fruit of the pineapple (Ananas comosus). More than a tropical treat, pineapple carries one of nature’s most studied digestive enzymes.
Nutritional & Phytochemical Profile
Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme, meaning it helps break down proteins. It is concentrated in the pineapple core and stem and is often extracted for use on its own, alongside the fruit’s vitamin C and manganese.
Traditional & Modern Uses
Traditionally, pineapple has been eaten to aid digestion after protein-rich meals. Bromelain is now widely used to support digestion, a healthy inflammatory response, and post-exercise recovery as part of a balanced routine.
How to Use & Enjoy
Fresh, ripe pineapple — especially closer to the core — provides natural bromelain; note that cooking deactivates the enzyme, so raw fruit is best. Concentrated bromelain is also available in supplement form.
The Nutritional Diversity Perspective
Bromelain highlights the role of food enzymes in nutrition — an often-overlooked dimension of dietary diversity that whole, raw foods uniquely provide.

Yohimbe Nutritional Information
Yohimbe: The Potent West African Bark
Yohimbe (Pausinystalia johimbe) is an evergreen tree native to Central and West Africa whose bark has a long history of traditional use. It is one of the more potent botanicals and deserves respectful, informed use.
Nutritional & Phytochemical Profile
Yohimbe bark contains the alkaloid yohimbine along with related compounds. Because these alkaloids are pharmacologically active, yohimbe is far more potent than most culinary botanicals, and its content can vary widely between products.
Traditional & Modern Uses
Traditionally, yohimbe bark has been used in West African practice as a stimulant and tonic. Modern use should be cautious: yohimbe can raise heart rate and blood pressure and is not suitable for everyone — particularly those with cardiovascular conditions, high blood pressure, anxiety, or who are pregnant or nursing.
How to Use & Enjoy
Because of its potency and variability, yohimbe should only be used under the guidance of a knowledgeable healthcare provider who can advise on whether it is appropriate and at what dose. It is not a casual daily botanical.
The Nutritional Diversity Perspective
Yohimbe is included here for education and completeness. It is a clear reminder that “natural” does not mean “gentle” — some botanicals are powerful and call for informed, careful respect.
