Best Running Shoes Rankings, Benefits, Side Effects & Experience
First and foremost I want to pass on real value to our readers, like the best running techniques, tips, and helpful information, that has helped me and other dedicated and serious runners push the line. We will also go into the best running shoes, the minimalist versus modern design discussion, and rank the best medium-cushioned running shoe at the best-priced elections.
Some consider running the ultimate physical test of time and distance against their own human production worth and ability. Cultures throughout time have had their secs of running enthusiasts who pulled off incredible distances and incredible times.
The primary runner’s product today that a runner depends on and becomes excited about is the best running shoes for the job, and in this piece, we rank the best running shoes for women and the best running shoes for men too.
In this article, I will go over some helpful running techniques, studies, and experience, as well as some discussion points that other runners talk about as far as a good running diet and a good run recovery nutrition plan.
To do a piece on running, one should do some running. So this past month as I work on the best running text, I have done some pretty rugged runs (2020).
AUGUST STAR RACE
The 2021 STAR Race, is upon us. A virtual goal event for the team and friends should they take the opportunity to use some goal-setting-octane-level fuel for their cardiovascular game.
A runner’s physical technique and mental drive are armed (or need to be) with a complex and dynamic toolset of past experience, future ideas, and constructive thought against a meditative zone that is a Godspeed of its own.
I will get into the breathwork and the breathing mantra more in my own experience, and other sections and focus on some basic physics of running.
Most runners form their spines to reverse or upside-down question marks (lower back bowed in towards the stomach, shoulders back), loosen their wrists to wave into the momentum cycle of the practice and lean slightly forward for most of their runs.
Oxygen and nitrogen should be the two thoughts for leg pain. Leg pain tells an ND runner that air in through the nose is needed, water helps, and so does the living plant matter (edible).
Nutrition is important and running depletes the system. For this particular run (above) I used a diet out of the grocery store and a few common species, that everyone can recognize.
I will say (like always) that the NDdiet is surely the most optimal, customizable, and performance-enhancing diet there is.
The diet was more towards Carnivore than Vegetarian, but I like both of those extreme diets at certain times – although as a rule, I tend to sparingly result in any extremity. I will do my next expose on running to include a diverse vegetable and fruit-only diet example.
Here on this Caribbean Paradise Island of Panama, the beef is tropical grass-fed and I can get most parts of the cow. As with all nutritional elements I try to go straight to the farmer when possible.
Below is the 12th the day before the run. Normally I would not bike this day, but I had to get some materials for the work I am doing. I am always working, even if it’s not making money – it is an art of the drive. Later I will show another interesting nutritional schematic.
Right before and after the run I took a fruit and wild vegetable 15 species green shake that filled in and maxed out all those vitamin levels. I want other runners to see how necessary that is.
A runner’s gear bag can consist of all sorts of different elements. Headphones and a runner’s watch are two common run-wear items that come to mind. I always go for a sturdy pair of boxing shorts over running ones because they are even more lightweight. Many don’t know about that.
The techniques and favorite products vary but one thing all runners can agree on is the right breathwork and mantra is going to supply the stride. The next having enough rest and nutrition. So there are the main three focus points on good running.
This brings us full circle to what is on a runner’s feet.
Let us take a look at the best running shoes of 2020.

BENEFITS
Studies look at footwear, oxygen uptake, lactose saturation, and technique towards optimal running performance finding that footwear was a huge factor in running economy and barefoot running economy improvements were also noticed. [1] Because of all this best running footwear out there, most feet need conditioning before this exercise if fully employed.
I will also note that in most of my research about historical runners and running cultures footwear is employed.
We know that before lacing up footwear nutrition and oxygen are the focus factors and breathwork before the run (daily) is as important to nutritional aspects as food is. [2,a]
Energy and strength training are certain factors although studies most concretely indicate that everyone is different and certain individuals who strength train will have benefits and possible deficits created by strength training to their running economy. [3,a]
Studies show that the running environment is a big factor to running performance. Nature and green environments were highly beneficial environments and environments with cars operating nearby were the least beneficial. [4]
I have found this to be very true. I am blessed to live in some of the most beautiful ecologies and coasts I have ever seen, as well as track and trail installations, and the better they get the better my time for distance gets too.
A randomized 24 week, “clever run” test, was administered to ages 18-65, examining factors such as time in training, training intensity versus showing accurate and simple GPS data important to this type of testing, as well as the importance of preconditioning before intense running – likely the most popular athletic activity today for adults. [5]
Online advisement has helped runners avoid injury and increase performance. [6]
The technique is highly valuable to the results of the active running process. [7]
Minimal shoes and new studies into the running shoe’s role in overall performance outcomes could help individuals decide between new minimal running shoe models and the higher-heeled traditional modern styles. [8] The best way to see what is best for you is to get both types and try them out.
SIDE EFFECTS
Running burns calories can induce hallucinations and when done in excess of what rest and nutrition supports can deplete needed vitamins and minerals, make bones prone to breakage, and the body opens for dehydration, kidney damage, and other serious problems.
It is important to precondition or work up to higher intensity and distance levels, and learn to feel out, and take responsibility for the dynamic factors involved with your own personal health and conditioning at all times.
EXPERIENCE
In the military, I was made the divisional “PT” (Personal Training) LPO (Lead Petty Officer) over about 100 highly effective emergency response personnel in the Bad News shipyard 2006. At that time I could lift a lot and looked-the-part of excellent shape. On push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups, I could smash everyone but on the run, I just passed the minimum mark and I would be on the ground dying afterward (@ 205lbs).
I didn’t care about running as much as I cared for my gym session. I have since found balance in the two and most running buddies now are impressed by the fact I can run with the “skinnies,” at the current size and muscle density I am carrying (I am 5’11’ @ 190lbs at the time of the run data above and below). Normally the skinny physic is the form for a runner to carry.
I have primarily participated in the sport of boxing in my athletic career although I am a huge believer in cross-disciplines and cross-training and have added several other sports and training styles to my toolsets.
Running is an incredible challenge, and I recommend it to everyone. I started a motivational virtual concept to help with nutritional diversity testing.
I can tell you several veggies, food items, and super-supplements such as Serrapeptase that help get the stamina meter up and into gear.

This last year and we are working a few bugs out of that, to finish up a nice functional online platform for more testing.
DISCUSSION
Bone broth is a huge part of my run recovery and preparation. Tea Tree medicines can provide alternatives and highly joint supportive fruits and vegetables also. The best calcium supplements can be the answer for many who tear themselves apart on the tracks and treads.
Running with “minimalist running shoes” or “barefoot-style”
I found a YouTube content provider “Doc on the Run,” which offered a great review of why most runners don’t have the discipline to run with minimalist running shoes (January 22, 2020), had top notations for functional running help, including claims that minimal running shoes helped to build bigger, better foot strength. One person mentions ned the switch to minimal shoes helped them get to the next level in overall fitness. The presentation emphasized heavily on the need to build up slowly to running with minimal shoes.
The Global Triathlon Network presented a lecture by Dr. Hanna Rice of the University Exeter (April 10, 2020), on foot strike contact places and cushioned shoes stating that impact rating actually remained higher on the cushioned sole design.
Would one be surprised that my personal recommendation is to run regularly with a diversity of footwear?
When we ranked this particular list of best running shoes we considered price because most other “best rankings” are all expensive models. We also went for medium to minimal on shoe sole thickness to meet in the middle of the discussion and training point.

RECAP
Running is one of the most popular and beneficial physical activities across human time on the planet.
The science and art of running have changed, and arguably so has ankles and bone structure. A minimalist movement in today’s running culture has motivated cross-training to less-padded running footwear to build a less cushioned response in foot strength.

Ragweed (Ambrosia): The Infamous Allergen with a Surprising History
Few plants are as disliked — or as misunderstood — as ragweed. To most people it’s simply the reason late summer means itchy eyes and endless sneezing. But ragweed is also a native North American plant with a genuinely surprising past: it was one of the continent’s ancient cultivated seed crops, and its very name is tangled up with wormwood in a way worth untangling.
What ragweed is (and the wormwood mix-up)
Ragweed is the genus Ambrosia — most commonly Ambrosia artemisiifolia (common ragweed) and Ambrosia trifida (giant ragweed) — in the daisy family. Here’s the confusion we see constantly: common ragweed’s folk names actually include “American wormwood” and “bitterweed,” which is why people so often conflate it with true wormwood. They are not the same plant. True wormwood is Artemisia absinthium; ragweed is Ambrosia. Different genus, different chemistry, different story — even if an old common name blurred the line.
The allergy reality
There’s no sugar-coating ragweed’s headline trait: it is one of the most significant pollen allergens in North America. A single plant can release enormous quantities of lightweight pollen that travels for miles on the wind, and its late-summer-into-fall season is the classic cause of seasonal allergic rhinitis — hay fever. People allergic to ragweed may also react to related plants and, through cross-reactivity, to certain foods like melon and banana in some cases.
The forgotten history: an ancient seed crop
Here’s the part almost no one knows. Long before it was a villain, giant ragweed (Ambrosia trifida) was part of the “Eastern Agricultural Complex” — a group of plants that Indigenous peoples of eastern North America cultivated thousands of years ago. Archaeological evidence shows ragweed seeds among early cultivated foods, valued as an oily, protein-bearing seed before maize came to dominate. It’s a striking reminder that our labels — “weed,” “crop,” “medicine,” “menace” — say as much about us as about the plant.
One plant, four names, and a history that runs from ancient granary to modern nuisance — ragweed is a lesson in how much context decides a plant’s reputation.
From the field — what we’ve seen
Fifteen years of working the land teaches you to read plants the way the old growers did — not as heroes or villains, but as parts of a system. Ragweed is a pioneer: it rushes into bare, disturbed, abused soil, and where you see a lot of it, the ground is often telling you something about how it’s been treated. That ecological literacy — knowing what a plant’s presence means — is field knowledge that rarely makes it into a nutrition table. We document ragweed here for exactly that reason: to know a plant honestly, allergen and ancient food alike, is part of a truly diverse understanding of the living world.

Bromelain Nutritional Information
Bromelain: Pineapple’s Powerful Enzyme
Bromelain is a group of enzymes found in the stem and fruit of the pineapple (Ananas comosus). More than a tropical treat, pineapple carries one of nature’s most studied digestive enzymes.
Nutritional & Phytochemical Profile
Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme, meaning it helps break down proteins. It is concentrated in the pineapple core and stem and is often extracted for use on its own, alongside the fruit’s vitamin C and manganese.
Traditional & Modern Uses
Traditionally, pineapple has been eaten to aid digestion after protein-rich meals. Bromelain is now widely used to support digestion, a healthy inflammatory response, and post-exercise recovery as part of a balanced routine.
How to Use & Enjoy
Fresh, ripe pineapple — especially closer to the core — provides natural bromelain; note that cooking deactivates the enzyme, so raw fruit is best. Concentrated bromelain is also available in supplement form.
The Nutritional Diversity Perspective
Bromelain highlights the role of food enzymes in nutrition — an often-overlooked dimension of dietary diversity that whole, raw foods uniquely provide.

Yohimbe Nutritional Information
Yohimbe: The Potent West African Bark
Yohimbe (Pausinystalia johimbe) is an evergreen tree native to Central and West Africa whose bark has a long history of traditional use. It is one of the more potent botanicals and deserves respectful, informed use.
Nutritional & Phytochemical Profile
Yohimbe bark contains the alkaloid yohimbine along with related compounds. Because these alkaloids are pharmacologically active, yohimbe is far more potent than most culinary botanicals, and its content can vary widely between products.
Traditional & Modern Uses
Traditionally, yohimbe bark has been used in West African practice as a stimulant and tonic. Modern use should be cautious: yohimbe can raise heart rate and blood pressure and is not suitable for everyone — particularly those with cardiovascular conditions, high blood pressure, anxiety, or who are pregnant or nursing.
How to Use & Enjoy
Because of its potency and variability, yohimbe should only be used under the guidance of a knowledgeable healthcare provider who can advise on whether it is appropriate and at what dose. It is not a casual daily botanical.
The Nutritional Diversity Perspective
Yohimbe is included here for education and completeness. It is a clear reminder that “natural” does not mean “gentle” — some botanicals are powerful and call for informed, careful respect.
