I tell folks for starters, the breath slows down to the bottom of your stomach all the way till your trying to break your jeans pushing your belly straight out or up, to calm yourself. The slow and low, practice especially help full when life stresses “hit” you.

BREATHWORK BENEFITS
Heavy breathwork can be vital in opening and keeping open flow pathways in the spinal region. [1,a,b] This study also suggests to me that, heavy breathing exercises would double well with, Chinese drum exercises, emphasizing the daily importance of breathwork and posture.
Breath training improves respiratory strength. [2]
Intermittent hypoxic training, which using the mask for short intervals and not using for short intervals has been shown to help prepare for high altitude activity and [3,4,5]
Breath counting can improve mind fullness. [6] I wonder if it can improve intentional mind to lung and system controls such as has been presented by Mr. Hof.
BREATHWORK SIDE EFFECTS
Too much of anything is not good, and one thing to keep in mind is if you plan on expanding and training the lungs now, you will have to stay on it forever. The body will adapt to your breath training, now at a young age, but in old age, we need to keep up the good breathwork -with all of these biologically related things, “if you don’t use it you lose it.”
Breath resistance devices and limiting oxygen should be employed in a very “slow to rise” style. Do not just start jogging around and doing jumping jacks with a breath trainer.
The risks of passing out, slipping are greater when using these devices. Once you feel like your brain status has been altered in your first month of practice: stop, and remove any breathwork device. This way one can build a bit of a tolerance to the effects – like any training work warm-up and build the ability SLOW, EASY AND CONTROLED FIRST.
BREATHWORK EXPERIENCE
Costa Rica had a few events I attended which facilitated breathwork. One event was even in a sweat tent, where the group beat drums breathed heavy and had a fire under a steam caldron.
This type of dedicated breathwork can leave effects lasting for days. It should likely be done once a week as a family.
The other place I have a pseudo-breath-work session is in Ocean swims, where I take a rest, and maintain a breath pattern that keeps me afloat for that time. Certainly when things pick up again and I start to move this is another pattern of breath to be maintained as the rhythm of the swim.
You should have an observer anytime you do stuff in the water, and when getting to know breathwork in general. Working in pairs helps.
I put all my training guys first on this seemingly basic gym killer routine, although it´s really a fine-tuned standard that has a lot behind it. It too is centered in a breath mantra.
I have been using the training mask and doing various breathwork real seriously the last 10 years, and it has really added to my arsenal of ability and my general performance momentum.
The Breath of Fire from Yoga, and the Wim Hof stuff, has added some around a ten percent performance increase to my overall game.
As I mentioned earlier deep breathing for calm, has likely kept me from again a great degree with what I just went through – and breathwork has been a huge part of that recovery overall. [x,a,b]
Intermittent hypoxic training with the masks has been a focus this last year for a few NDers all reporting it as a great uplifting day practice and pre-intense work out session amplifier.
My ND guys (once they get it to click finally) are in love with the gym rhythm, best breathwork I describe in the gym killer routines.
Working with the mask helps get back into the endurance condition faster that is for sure.
I have been training myself as I sit here and do this computer work. I will do it when I do breathwork at the same time and I will do it while I clean and also sitting or laying to have a diverse spectrum of practice.
At first, starting out with this type of work, just a few breaths would make me light-headed, and after a few weeks I could go a few minutes with tolerance to that feeling, and I would press myself to get up and walk around or shadowbox right there at the office chair.
I added this to my best home push up routine and forget about it. I keep telling people you workouts are your master drive/gear ratios. This is what grows your gears to be able to climb the mountain.
True “breathwork” in the entirety of the term must be a regular routine practice and the real results and ability will from it come over time like any other training.
Certain conditions and individuals should not engage in this best breathwork practice, such as those with pre-existing pulmonary or cardiac problems. Newbies need to speak to their doctors to do lots of research, get to know themselves and their bodies really well before embarking on this study.
There is very beneficial breathwork for pre-existing heart and lung relation conditions although we are not schooled or studies very well on it at this time.
Intense constant holotropic breathwork can envoke a serious emotional experience. If it can release hallucinogenic chemicals in the system, old memories suppressed, and sometimes its things people would have liked to stay forgotten.
According to Vice Media, “Breathwork was born out of LSD research in the 1960s, and suggests that by hyperventilating, you can experience the same feeling as an acid trip.” These guys think “breathwork is essentially breathing really, really fast, to remove carbon dioxide from the body which leads to a rise in blood pH,” and while there is truth to the supporting study mentioned breathwork my friends goes back much farther than that.
The inventors of one martial art’s most advanced modern marvels of style; Brazillian JuJitsu, the Gracie family produced a son named Joyce who would become an MMA Legend and bring the intense Ancient Yoga “Breath of Fire” to the world in the documentary entitled “Choke.” Excellent must-see scientific information.
Being that breath seems to amplify intention, or visa versa I do a session before my session with the GreatSpirit every day.
