The jackfruit tree although cultivated for over 6000 years, is easy to grow and very productive with valuable wood to boot; is oddly passed up by the local population here in Panama. It is much more popular in Costa Rica. Outside of a personal farming relationship with a Master, like ours, Jackfruit fresh off the tree is fairly rare and hard to get a hold of, at least I have never had this access to it before nor had I had it ever before here- ever.

Here we have around 16 baby trees that would be cool to reforest some of an area that some selfish idiots cleared in attempted to land grab recently. They ignored monkeys yelling at them for weeks. I had no idea, they were completely clearing on the other side of the hill where the saw was too low to hear. We chased them off – out of a neighborhood of 20 homes here, we were the only ones who helped this piece of land, a good bit away, that the howler monkeys hovered over and cried about loudly for weeks!

The last farmhand and I, made a great burrito filling out of the seed, and the fried strings. The seed was a good addition to the sour cream and the fried strings made a tasty loader. We did the strings in olive oil.  We made the tortillas with yucca flour. You could almost call them anti-cancer burritos!

I think the jackfruit seed paste we made would be a good base for a spicy red hot sauce, a good dip for vegetable platters, and also for fajitas.

Dehydrated stuff certainly is a plus for any diverse trail mix, and this is a great gift for loved ones or someone about to embark on a journey!

A.   Several studies do indicate the “big yellow,” as great protective to the digestive tract mucous membrane and also the potential to remove toxic cancer-causing elements from it. In the garden I have grown some habanero relative peppers, the Mayan relative pepper, a little round ‘tabasco’ pepper, and a few jalapenos in the mountains, which speak for the general idea in local peppers. A hot food eater identity is reasonably a daring individual who may like pain.
