by Kim Conely

The best cinnamon, most commonly refers to the inner bark, in powdered form from the Cinnamomum tree.

The old botanical synonym for one of the more popular species of the tree, Cinnamomum zeylanicum, is derived from Sri Lanka’s former name, Ceylon.

Sri Lanka still produces 80–90% of the world’s supply of the best cinnamon, which is also cultivated on a commercial scale in Seychelles and also in Madagascar. [1]

It has a long history as a sought after spice and medicinal herb in many sources including the Bible. It’s recorded as a heavy import into Egypt around 2000 B.C.

It was a good gift for a king, which puts it in our royal grouping of foods along with the queen of fruit, papaya, and mango – a salad of each topped with the super spice is delicious!

The phoenix supposedly built its nest from cinnamon and cassia or Kasia. Herodotus mentions other writers who believed the source of cassia was the home of Dionysos, located somewhere east or south of Greece.

Today cinnamon is thought to come from India Burma, and Bangladesh regions.

The Greeks used “kásia” or “malabathron” to flavor wine, together with absinthe wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). Was this the ambrosia legend, the “nectar of the God’s?”

While Theophrastus gives a good account of the plants, he describes a curious method for harvesting: worms eat away the wood and leave the bark behind. Kasia and cinnamon were also the two herbs recommended by Moses for the making of anointing oils.

Cinnamon reduces levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides, while HDL cholesterol remains stable. This is a very handy ability and those of us who are on a budget and eat tons of eggs and other high-calorie stuff like crazy. We should have a nice looking topper of cinnamon on the fruit blends from now on, to help their balancing effects along.
cinammon=herb-nutritionaldiversity
The best cinnamon is also high in antioxidants, even more so than garlic or oregano. [2]

It has anti-inflammatory powers, and reduces heart disease, and treats and prevents diabetes and cancer. [3,4]

It cuts down on mucus in the body, and according to Professor Arnold Ehret’s Mucusless Diet System (1922), this is the most important goal in human health.

Cinnamon, like coconut oil, has been shown to lead to various improvements for Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. It has also been significantly studied for anti-cancer properties, in both animal and human cell studies. (b) [5,6,7]

Cinnamon can be used for athlete’s foot, indigestion, to improve brain function, and to help lower blood glucose levels (seriously important now), among many other benefits.

Ancient references seem to point out the significance of the oils in cinnamon. This oil has so far been shown to effectively treat respiratory tract infections caused by fungi.

Cinnamon is further noticed for its ability to help stop the growth of bacteria as well as fungi, including the commonly problematic yeast Candida. (b)

Cinnamaldehyde, the main active component of cinnamon, may help fight various kinds of infection. In food-storage situations, a small number of cinnamon oils can prevent harmful bacteria from forming such as salmonella.

A laboratory study looking at HIV infected cells found that cinnamon was the most effective treatment of the many medicinal plants studied. [8,9,10]

This is tree bark, filed into a powder, and I think it makes an argument for the edibility of solid woods, at least in the powder state.

It also makes the point for aromatic plants, in that they have potent medicines as well as aromas.

CINNAMON BENEFITS

Cinnamon is loaded with powerful antioxidants, such as polyphenols. In a study that compared the antioxidant activity of 26 spices, cinnamon wound up as the clear winner, even outranking “superfoods” like garlic and oregano. In fact, it is so powerful that cinnamon can be used as a natural food preservative.  [11,12]

In traditional medicine, Cinnamon is considered a remedy for respiratory, digestive, and gynecological ailments.

The available in-vitro and in-vivo evidence suggests that Cinnamomum zeylanicum has anti-microbial, anti-parasitic, anti-oxidant, and free radical scavenging properties. In addition, Cinnamomum zeylanicum seems to lower blood glucose, serum cholesterol, and blood pressure, suggesting beneficial cardiovascular effects. [13]

Cinnamon is a weight loss supplement! Regular supplementation significantly reduces unwanted weight. [14]

Essential oils derived from the ancient wonder bark indicate that it could eradicate all of the certain types of infection-causing bacteria such as
Pseudomonas Aeruginosa.

Cinnamon bark essential oil is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial capable of rapid killing at low concentrations. [15]

The powder and oil both can be used to reduce wetness and purports strong antifungal aspects desirable in food packaging [16] and is a medicinal application.

The use of a nasal spray of a standardized extract of cinnamon bark (IND02) over seven days reduced symptom severity and improved quality of life, work productivity, and regular daily activities in participants experiencing seasonal sinus issues. [17]

Dog lovers like myself may be glad to know a light essential oil spray has also been thought to reduce problems in canine ears [18]

Cinnamomum cassia extract in vivo and in vitro. However, there are no studies at present exploring the effects of the indigenous species of Sri Lankan cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) in patients with diabetes [19]

For those who want to look at the extraction science and start getting into that stuff, here is some information you may find useful. [20]

Effective in oral infections and the combat of candida. The Blume leaves have eugenol and this is a heavy antifungal property. [21] In more ways than one we have a compenero de garlic here (make sure to thoroughly read). Not so much taste-wise, but what is taste?

CINNAMON SIDE EFFECTS

No measurable side effects realized with moderate use of 1gram and blood pressure lowering capabilities were confirmed. [22]

Certain sources of cinnamon have more coumarin than others. Coumarin in too high of doses can cause liver damage.

CINNAMON EXPERIENCE

We find out in our research that most of the cinnamon on the market today like garlic comes from China. These products are oftentimes bleached or sprayed and soaked in other chemicals and powders to help with contamination and inflate production.

Could offset irritation of best cordyceps in small amounts (abstract {to take a fungal with antifungal} ), throughout the day maybe with a protein shake, and maybe with some of the best turmeric powder to help associated inflammations and create a well-rounded tonic. I would add in good spinach or gotu kola, or another calcium-rich vegetable for powders in a shake like this to bind and move with.

An apple or some momones afterward, and some yams later.

Still working on this one but signs point to a rich herbal concoction also to include ashwagandha, cacao, avocado, and coconut as being a final drink seemingly most supportive of performance. Like all this NDdiet stuff we find you need certain herbs to help certain others to get the best results. It’s like a witches brew every time.

Herbs like the best cinnamon and ginger have been used to help trigger and modify the maturity rates and health of quail eggs. Interesting stuff for aspiring quail farmers such as myself. [23]

When I grab a new tub of protein, I usually a first thing, drop a few grams of the best cinnamon per serving of protein in there and shake it up. I find it works equally as good with vanilla as chocolate or if peanut butter flavored proteins are available. Remember though we try to steer from eating seeds and steer towards planting them as NDdieters.

I have found with meat bone, or seashell, some cassava leaf, and the best cinnamon a nice quick tea brew for energy and balance. I always add the best coconut oil to a brew like this and don’t them very often. Mango leaf and mango fruit, and noni leaf or fruit also play nicely with this mix. People are always looking for a noni mixer.

If I do do a brew like this one, I will make sure to set some aside to let ferment a few days with cheesecloth over the top of the glass container. I recently tested it with a friend aged 60, who had been really depleted during the surprise of quarantine from working in the heat and having a bum diet and maybe a bit too much drinking. He kept telling man this “stuff is causing me to regain my health!”

I did one once with maca root, laurel leaf, milk thistle blend at the end was really good!

A week later he could have to the farm near to where we are and really feel better but… control freaks – they ruin everything don’t they!

CINNAMON DISCUSSION

Finding the best cinnamon source is helpful to any conscious kitchen, supplement maker, athlete, and nutritionist. Such is learning the true benefits of the best cinnamon source.

Cinnamon is great but much of it is fake, puffed, and fluffed and mixed with other stuff.

Stupid companies bleach it even though it is not needed like it is with other products from the orient such as garlic because the tree itself is inherently antifungal.

We set out to rank the best cinnamon source so that consumers, coaches, and kitchens don’t have to.

Good oils are hard to come by we found. We also found overwhelming amounts of commercial products we didn’t trust.

We did however find 7 worthy sources for our top-notch best cinnamon ranking.

Seems like cinnamon times should definitely coincide with garlic days, although these cinnamon-times can be, and are recommended to be, longer periods of time – still nothing should be consumed always, or never (never-abstract homeopathy).

Chewing on the sticks promotes good gum and mouth health.

If you are a King it’s probably in your cabinets.

🌿 A New Age of Nutrition Is Here

Most nutritionists don’t know how nutrition is actually cultivated in nature.
They don’t understand ecosystems — they understand isolated compounds.
They don’t build vitality — they prescribe boxes.

Much like modern agriculture, today’s nutrition field is dominated by shortcuts and chemicals. Synthetic vitamins, mass-produced crops, sterile soils, and monoculture mindsets. These systems cheat nature — and nature always pushes back.

The consequences?
Wrecked soil. Broken guts. Fragile immune systems. A sick planet and a sick population.
Not just humans — but animals, microbes, insects, and even fungi are caught in the backlash.

💥 We Are Building a Better Way

At Nutritional Diversity, we don’t accept that.
We’ve outperformed mainstream systems — in the jungle, in the gym, in healing, in every measure that counts.

“Who controls the food supply…” Take the Power Back!!

Imagine If 20% of the Population Took Action Today: A Vision for Nutritional Diversity and Land Restoration

A Future Shaped by Small Alternative Agricultures

Imagine if, starting today, one in five people took up the challenge of cultivating small-scale alternative agriculture—permaculture food forests, regenerative farms, nutrient-dense wild plots, and biodiverse gardens—all designed to support the Nutritional Diversity Diet.

Where would we be in five, ten, or twenty years?

Five Years: The Awakening of the Land

  • Millions of small plots, backyards, and vacant lands transformed into living, breathing ecosystems.
  • Urban and rural landscapes are interwoven with perennial food systems, soil-building crops, and high-density nutrition.
  • Local communities regaining food sovereignty, free from chemical-dependent supply chains.
  • A new generation of eco-entrepreneurs emerges, pioneering micro-farms that thrive on biodiversity, not monoculture.

Ten Years: The Turning Point

  • Soil once depleted by industrial agriculture now teeming with life, enriched by microbial diversity.
  • A shift in global nutrition: Gut health improves, disease rates drop, and food security becomes decentralized.
  • Rivers and oceans heal as synthetic fertilizers and agricultural runoff disappear.
  • AI-driven ecological monitoring and drone-assisted reforestation bring back lost biodiversity.
  • Carbon sequestration skyrockets as trees, fungi, and regenerative landscapes capture atmospheric carbon at scale.

Twenty Years: A Thriving Regenerative Civilization

  • Industrial farming is replaced by hyper-diverse, closed-loop food systems.
  • A self-sustaining, nutritionally complete ecosystem supports human health and planetary stability.
  • No longer a “niche practice,” biodiverse agriculture becomes the foundation of global food production.
  • The climate stabilizes, deserts are reclaimed, and the world breathes in balance with nature.
  • Humanity lives longer, stronger, and more harmoniously, nourished by food systems that heal instead of harm.

Call to Action: The Time Is Now

This is not a distant dream—it is a blueprint for action. With the right support, incentives, and knowledge-sharing networks, we can make this vision a reality.

We propose the Nutritional Diversity Ecological Enhancement Initiative, a scalable, measurable, and globally replicable system to:
✅ Provide tools, education, and guidance to small-scale land stewards.
✅ Establish financial and technological support for high-diversity micro-farms.
✅ Integrate AI, drone technology, and microbial soil innovations for rapid ecosystem regeneration.
✅ Create global food security by focusing on nutrient density over yield quantity.
✅ Develop decentralized marketplaces, ensuring farmers thrive economically while enhancing ecosystems.

We invite partners, visionaries, and world leaders to be part of this movement—to fund, support, and ignite a regenerative revolution.

🌱 The first seeds of change are ready to be planted. Will you be among the first to grow the future?

What Happens When We Take Action?

When 20% of the population actively participates in alternative agriculture and land regeneration, we initiate a chain reaction—one that transforms food systems, ecosystems, human health, and even the global economy.

Phase 1: The Shift Begins (Years 1-5)

  • People reclaim land—from vacant lots to degraded soil, rooftops to backyards—turning them into diverse, regenerative food systems.
  • Microbial restoration kicks in as synthetic inputs are abandoned in favor of probiotic soil amendments, composting, and mycoremediation.
  • Communities reconnect through local food exchanges, cooperative farming models, and educational hubs that teach Nutritional Diversity principles.
  • Corporate agriculture feels the shift—as millions of people begin sourcing food from local, nutrient-dense, chemical-free alternatives.
  • Consumer health improves as gut microbiomes are restored, chronic disease rates decline, and processed food dependency weakens.

Phase 2: The Turning Point (Years 5-10)

  • A new agricultural economy emerges, where small-scale, biodiverse farms outperform industrial monocultures in nutrition, sustainability, and resilience.
  • Desertified lands begin to heal, carbon is pulled from the atmosphere, and regenerative land practices stabilize microclimates.
  • Big agriculture is forced to adapt—industries pivot to regenerative practices or face extinction as decentralized food systems thrive.
  • Nutritional intelligence spreads, with functional medicine and whole-food-based nutrition becoming the global standard.
  • Biodiversity explodes—pollinators, wildlife, and native plants return, forming self-sustaining ecosystems within human environments.

Phase 3: A Regenerative Future (Years 10-20)

  • Human health reaches a new peak, with stronger immune systems, fewer metabolic diseases, and a lifespan extended by decades through nutrient-rich diets.
  • The climate crisis reverses itself, as forests, soil, and mycorrhizal networks become major carbon sinks, cooling the planet naturally.
  • Oceans heal, as agricultural runoff ceases, marine food chains restore, and dead zones shrink.
  • New economic powerhouses emerge, built on regenerative production, decentralized supply chains, and abundance-based commerce.
  • Governments and corporations embrace the movement, integrating nutritional diversity farming and ecosystem repair into global policy.

The Inevitable Future—If We Act Now

This isn’t speculation—this will happen if enough people take action. The first adopters set the stage, and as results multiply, the movement scales exponentially.

The Nutritional Diversity Ecological Enhancement Initiative is designed to facilitate, accelerate, and scale this transformation.

👉 We have the tools. We have the knowledge. We have the opportunity.

🔥 The only question is: How fast do we want this future to arrive?

….. another question could be can we implement through the younger generation and video games!???
