Fact Checked
by Kim Conely

Dandelion’s are the most obvious first pick of semi-wild food to graduate athlete’s, dieters and nutritional enthusiasts anywhere in the world into wild harvesting. That’s because dandelions are all over the world, likely in walking distance from your front door right now.

The taraxacum genus from the asteraceae family is most often found in the temperate zone of the Northern hemisphere.

At the Nutritional Diversity Study Center’s staff and students are consuming between 10% and 4o% wild foods in the overall intake meal plans. That’s right nearly all of our greens come select from the farm (10-20% domesticated species) stronger species or the jungle. Wild consumption is the most direct with nature exchange, no farmer, no money trade… you, nature.

Wild harvesting and greens are extremely important to the human experience and the human system.

Watching monkeys and other primates here eat greens all day long, and not one to ten different ones, but next to all of them stripping down hard materials with their gums and teeth that never see the dentist.

In the wild realm, there are some things that will make you sick or kill you, so you need to know what you are doing, or know the best dandelion well, or know wild food testing well.

You can eat the entire dandelion plant, they say some of the best eats from it are the flowers and roots. We eat them mostly in fresh in salads or smoothies, or vegetable burritos.

Dandelions are everywhere! That means they are strong, and they have what it takes to pump on through the day and the night across the globe and to all the islands even (we are one of those islands now). These guys have a happy look and feel and are a tough guy food. These guys have been tested out in all sorts of ways, to show the benefits from this bright, soft, magnificent flowering plant.

Dandelion Nutrition

We here at the Panama Island site have more of a Caribbean plant spread, we have a more thick leafed wonderful best dandelions.

Dandelions are well covered on the net as a nutritional item, and great for green smoothies. They even have dried dandelions packed in veggie-caps available on the herbal supplement market shelves. Dandelions and dandelion benefits have been well incorporated into many diet plans today. When harvesting dandelions, which you may clean with oils and vinegar, baking soda, etc. Take note of where dogs may pee, and where toxins may be sprayed or dumped.

Calcium

Dandelions are a great source of calcium, they contain more calcium then kail. Add two to three cups of dandelion to a smoothie with calcium-rich fruits like orange, kiwi, fig or papaya for steady bone support.

Vitamins

Besides vitamin A as beta-carotene (186% RDA) and vitamin C (21% RDA), each cup of chopped dandelion greens are also good sources of vitamins B1 (9% RDA), B2 (11% RDA) and B6 (11% RDA), vitamin E (13% RDA) and especially abundant in vitamin K (357% RDA).

Several large tests have been conducted and covered in articles that promise dandelions combat cancer directly. Every part of the dandelion plant is rich in antioxidants that prevent free-radical damage to cells and DNA, slowing down the aging process in our cells. It is rich in vitamin C and vitamin A as beta-carotene and increases the liver’s production of super-oxide dismutase that also protects all of the members of the digestive tract.

In 2011 the Journal of Ethnopharmacology quotes “selective induction of apoptosis through activation of caspase-8 in human leukemia cells (Jurkat) by dandelion root extract.” Among many other key looks at dandelions and cancer cells.

Dandelion increases bile and saliva production and reduces inflammation to help with gallbladder problems and blockages. It is available in several areas around the world. In many countries, it is used as food and in some countries as therapeutics for the control and treatment of T2D, and HIV.

The benefits are so stacked with the best dandelions, that the University of Windsor in Canada’s chemistry department dandelion-nutritional-diversityhas recently launched the “Dandelion Project,” to further investigate the awesome properties of the plant.

Let’s check out the best dandelion products available.

DANDELION BENEFITS

The root of the dandelion has traditionally been known to address gastro-intestinal issues, a diuretic, an insulin stimulant,  and a digestive stimulant (making it a select for the Nutritional Diversity diet) [1].

The anti-diabetic properties of dandelion are attributed to bioactive chemical components; these include chicoric acid, taraxasterol (TS), chlorogenic acid, and sesquiterpene lactones. Dandelions are being used as food and treatment for Type II Diabetes around the world today.  [2, 3 ]

It get’s even better with dandelion as the plant has been seen to feature, diuretic, choleretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-carcinogenic, analgesic, anti-hyperglycemic, anti-coagulatory and prebiotic effects [4]

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common malignancies, which accounts for 90% of primary liver cancer. HCC usually presents with poor outcomes due to the high rates of tumor recurrence and widespread metastasis (Mao and Wang, 2015)[19]. Recent results pointed out that natural products, in particular those present in Taraxacumroot extract, have great potential as non-toxic and effective alternatives to conventional modes of chemotherapy available today. Studies indicate strong liver support in the root extract, and possible treatment of HIV. [5]

DANDELION SIDE EFFECTS

Overuse could cause runny bowel, and other irritations or inflammations of the stomach.

DANDELION EXPERIENCE

Dandelions will grow wherever you stick them, clear an area recently, and beyond. I like to use dandelions along trails into the thick, as they take hold and help to improve the trail’s life expectancy. Mixed with peanut grass transplants, you have a nice easy to groom carpet that keeps other stuff free of invading back into the trail clearing.  As I mention in the nutritional section about dandelions, they are a strong little plant, that has set it’s roots everywhere in the world. I don’t know about you but that’s nutrition to take advantage of if you ask me.

There is a copy cat, look-a-like of the dandelion with a white flower, that is highly toxic. Make sure you test all wild plants with the step by step plant testing method before including the wild plant heavily into a meal. When harvesting dandelions, which you may clean with oils and vinegar, baking soda, etc. Take note of where dogs may pee, and where toxins may be sprayed or dumped.

Pick em right out of the sun, do em up how your gonna, and get em down, they transport great electrologists and other important vitality chemicals whose essence is most captured while the plant is most alive.

DANDELION DISCUSSION

They are everywhere, strong grower, and part of the larger intelligence of herbs that come into clearings. Pay special attention to all of these.

I will recommend Paul Stamets new books, (1). Mycelium Running and (2). Fantastic Fungi about the higher intellect of nature that seems to dictate a spread of health herbs for each of our recent clearings.

🌿 A New Age of Nutrition Is Here

Most nutritionists don’t know how nutrition is actually cultivated in nature.
They don’t understand ecosystems — they understand isolated compounds.
They don’t build vitality — they prescribe boxes.

Much like modern agriculture, today’s nutrition field is dominated by shortcuts and chemicals. Synthetic vitamins, mass-produced crops, sterile soils, and monoculture mindsets. These systems cheat nature — and nature always pushes back.

The consequences?
Wrecked soil. Broken guts. Fragile immune systems. A sick planet and a sick population.
Not just humans — but animals, microbes, insects, and even fungi are caught in the backlash.

💥 We Are Building a Better Way

At Nutritional Diversity, we don’t accept that.
We’ve outperformed mainstream systems — in the jungle, in the gym, in healing, in every measure that counts.

We are now entering the supplement space not to compete… but to replace.
We will use today’s manufacturing only as a bridge — our long-term mission is to build a completely new:

  • Sourcing network

“Who controls the food supply…” Take the Power Back!!

“Who controls the food supply controls the people.” – Henry Kissinger [i]

Imagine If 20% of the Population Took Action Today: A Vision for Nutritional Diversity and Land Restoration

A Future Shaped by Small Alternative Agricultures

Imagine if, starting today, one in five people took up the challenge of cultivating small-scale alternative agriculture—permaculture food forests, regenerative farms, nutrient-dense wild plots, and biodiverse gardens—all designed to support the Nutritional Diversity Diet.

Where would we be in five, ten, or twenty years?

Five Years: The Awakening of the Land

  • Millions of small plots, backyards, and vacant lands transformed into living, breathing ecosystems.
  • Urban and rural landscapes are interwoven with perennial food systems, soil-building crops, and high-density nutrition.
  • Local communities regaining food sovereignty, free from chemical-dependent supply chains.
  • A new generation of eco-entrepreneurs emerges, pioneering micro-farms that thrive on biodiversity, not monoculture.

Ten Years: The Turning Point

  • Soil once depleted by industrial agriculture now teeming with life, enriched by microbial diversity.
  • A shift in global nutrition: Gut health improves, disease rates drop, and food security becomes decentralized.
  • Rivers and oceans heal as synthetic fertilizers and agricultural runoff disappear.
  • AI-driven ecological monitoring and drone-assisted reforestation bring back lost biodiversity.
  • Carbon sequestration skyrockets as trees, fungi, and regenerative landscapes capture atmospheric carbon at scale.

Twenty Years: A Thriving Regenerative Civilization

  • Industrial farming is replaced by hyper-diverse, closed-loop food systems.
  • A self-sustaining, nutritionally complete ecosystem supports human health and planetary stability.
  • No longer a “niche practice,” biodiverse agriculture becomes the foundation of global food production.
  • The climate stabilizes, deserts are reclaimed, and the world breathes in balance with nature.
  • Humanity lives longer, stronger, and more harmoniously, nourished by food systems that heal instead of harm.

Call to Action: The Time Is Now

This is not a distant dream—it is a blueprint for action. With the right support, incentives, and knowledge-sharing networks, we can make this vision a reality.

We propose the Nutritional Diversity Ecological Enhancement Initiative, a scalable, measurable, and globally replicable system to:
✅ Provide tools, education, and guidance to small-scale land stewards.
✅ Establish financial and technological support for high-diversity micro-farms.
✅ Integrate AI, drone technology, and microbial soil innovations for rapid ecosystem regeneration.
✅ Create global food security by focusing on nutrient density over yield quantity.
✅ Develop decentralized marketplaces, ensuring farmers thrive economically while enhancing ecosystems.

We invite partners, visionaries, and world leaders to be part of this movement—to fund, support, and ignite a regenerative revolution.

🌱 The first seeds of change are ready to be planted. Will you be among the first to grow the future?

What Happens When We Take Action?

When 20% of the population actively participates in alternative agriculture and land regeneration, we initiate a chain reaction—one that transforms food systems, ecosystems, human health, and even the global economy.

Phase 1: The Shift Begins (Years 1-5)

  • People reclaim land—from vacant lots to degraded soil, rooftops to backyards—turning them into diverse, regenerative food systems.
  • Microbial restoration kicks in as synthetic inputs are abandoned in favor of probiotic soil amendments, composting, and mycoremediation.
  • Communities reconnect through local food exchanges, cooperative farming models, and educational hubs that teach Nutritional Diversity principles.
  • Corporate agriculture feels the shift—as millions of people begin sourcing food from local, nutrient-dense, chemical-free alternatives.
  • Consumer health improves as gut microbiomes are restored, chronic disease rates decline, and processed food dependency weakens.

Phase 2: The Turning Point (Years 5-10)

  • A new agricultural economy emerges, where small-scale, biodiverse farms outperform industrial monocultures in nutrition, sustainability, and resilience.
  • Desertified lands begin to heal, carbon is pulled from the atmosphere, and regenerative land practices stabilize microclimates.
  • Big agriculture is forced to adapt—industries pivot to regenerative practices or face extinction as decentralized food systems thrive.
  • Nutritional intelligence spreads, with functional medicine and whole-food-based nutrition becoming the global standard.
  • Biodiversity explodes—pollinators, wildlife, and native plants return, forming self-sustaining ecosystems within human environments.

Phase 3: A Regenerative Future (Years 10-20)

  • Human health reaches a new peak, with stronger immune systems, fewer metabolic diseases, and a lifespan extended by decades through nutrient-rich diets.
  • The climate crisis reverses itself, as forests, soil, and mycorrhizal networks become major carbon sinks, cooling the planet naturally.
  • Oceans heal, as agricultural runoff ceases, marine food chains restore, and dead zones shrink.
  • New economic powerhouses emerge, built on regenerative production, decentralized supply chains, and abundance-based commerce.
  • Governments and corporations embrace the movement, integrating nutritional diversity farming and ecosystem repair into global policy.

The Inevitable Future—If We Act Now

This isn’t speculation—this will happen if enough people take action. The first adopters set the stage, and as results multiply, the movement scales exponentially.

The Nutritional Diversity Ecological Enhancement Initiative is designed to facilitate, accelerate, and scale this transformation.

👉 We have the tools. We have the knowledge. We have the opportunity.

🔥 The only question is: How fast do we want this future to arrive?

….. another question could be can we implement through the younger generation and video games!???
